Glick Audio and Video sponsors multimedia exhibit at PCAD
LANCASTER Pa. - Glick Audio and Video is sponsoring an audio and video installation by Handcranked Film Projects in the gallery located at the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design in downtown Lancaster, February 1 - April 4, 2008.
An opening reception is scheduled for February 1st from 5:00 8:00 p.m. during Lancaster’s First Friday festivities.
Pennsylvania College of Art & Design collaborated with Glick Audio and Video to transform part of the Main Gallery into a High Definition (HD) theatre, where a collection of films by Handcranked Film Projects will be showcased.
"This project is a great opportunity to show our support for the thriving art scene in Lancaster," said Ted Houser, Glick Audio and Video manager.
Handcranked Film Projects is the brainchild of four artists, Jake Mahaffy, Bryan Papciak, Jeff Sias, and Daniel Sousa, who found common ground with their love of film and art. The friends and colleagues formed the group in 1999 to explore and share their personal creative ideas through non-conventional, non-commercial cinema and art.
“We use Handcranked as a way to share ideas and critique, help in production of each other’s films and show our work in a group setting. While we are all individual artists, each with his own personal style and philosophies, we feel our work is similar in spirit,” said Jeff Sias of Handcranked Film Projects.
The artists have collectively screened their films and won awards in festivals worldwide, including Sundance Film Festival. The art and film work on display at Pennsylvania College of Art & Design will represent the group’s shared aesthetic interests while exploring a wide range of mediums and techniques, including: animation, sculpture, photography, graphic novels, painting, printmaking and drawing.
"We are excited to present the artwork of Handcranked Film Projects because these artists are producing high quality film, from unique points of view. Additionally, they are also exploring the themes in their films in other media, such as painting, sculpture, and photography. This exhibit will be a great opportunity for visitors to see how ideas become reality in a variety of art forms," said Heidi Leitzke, gallery director.
The Main Gallery, open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., exhibits works of nationally and regionally known artists and designers. In addition to being free and open to the public, it serves as an important component of the college’s curriculum, enhancing students’ learning opportunities. Visitors should call (717) 396-7833 for evening or weekend hours. The gallery is closed on holidays.
Pennsylvania College of Art & Design is an accredited, institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and is a Candidate for Accreditation by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
